ST. GEORGE, UTAH
THE PROPOSAL
BUTTERFLY TRAIL
APRIL 5, 2025

WINTER 2024
Our first trip together was down to St. George for my birthday in 2024! We were stir crazy after Nick had been sick with COVID so we ran away for the weekend and thought getting some fresh air on a snow covered Angel’s Landing would be the best way to recover. It was our first time traveling together, celebrating my birthday, and exploring Zion National Park. Little did I know we’d be back to create more special memories this Spring!
WINTER 2025
In January we made our way down with another couple to celebrate Nick’s Birthday. One afternoon we found ourselves wandering Snow Canyon and on the Butterfly trail to check out the petrified dunes. Its stunning landscape makes you feel like you’ve stepped on another planet.
SPRING 2025
We were invited down for a getaway weekend with friends! Everyone was needing a refresh as finals approached so we planned for lots of down time in warmer weather.
On Saturday morning
We did a pastry run to Farmstead for breakfast and found ourselves on the patio laughing as we swapped stories. After, we soaked in the sun and tanned by the pool for the rest of the morning. In the afternoon the girls challenged the boys to pickleball and we broke a little sweat. As evening started we wrapped the play day to get ready for dinner.
The group decided to take a pretty drive on the way to dinner, and before I knew it we were on the Butterfly Trail. Nick led me up to the overlook and gently talked with me over the petrified dunes before getting down on his knee to pop the question! Before he could open the ring box, I paused him to ask if he actually had the ring? I was expecting a temporary because the custom process can take a while, but to my surprise and excitement he smiled and nodded to show me! I think the ring took my breath away because Nick said my “YES” was barely a whisper! After hugs, kisses, and cheers, we fought the wind for a couple of photos and finished our drive through the park.
Our friends set up dinner for us at Cappelletti's where we could hardly eat because we were excited to spill all the details of Nick’s planning and funny ring mishaps from the last few weeks. We took a drive over to the St. George temple to park and laugh more together and were surprised when we arrived back at our friend’s house.
They had set up a little engagement party with balloons, gluten free doughnuts, and Fresca mocktails! We all cozied up to watch couple’s retreat until I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day and I couldn’t be more grateful to Nick and our sweet friends for making it so special.
